How many treatments will I need?

We recommend on average 8-12 treatments, 4-8 weeks apart, depending on the area treated. The number of treatments required however can vary depending on hair density, hair colour, skin type, the area being treated and your hair growth. In turn, the density of your hair and its growth depend on other factors such as age, hormones, medication and your ethnic background. This will be discussed during your consultation. The skin also contains dormant hair follicles and they may produce new hairs which will be finer than the original hairs.

Shaving rash, Ingrown hairs, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) side effect – unwanted hair growth

Shaving rash, also known as Folliculitis Barbae, is very often seen on the beard area, but it can also happen on other body areas where the hair is shaved, waxed or plucked.

Ingrown hairs can often curl into the skin instead of growing straight out the follicle. And that can cause inflammation, itchiness, redness and sometimes infection which can be painful and unsightly. Polycystic

Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) While this condition affects many women, the cause is unknown. The ovaries are affected and become enlarged with fluid filled follicles surrounding the eggs. Due to a high amount of the hormone Androgen, unwanted facial and body hair can be experienced as well as irregular periods. Some women may have only one of the symptoms while others can have all of them.

Laser hair removal can be very effective in reducing the amount of unwanted hair. We recommend a course of treatments and with any hormonal conditions, top up sessions may be required.
