scars
Scars are normally left after an injury to the skin and is part of the natural healing process. They may vary in appearance e.g. flat line scars, indented acne scars, raised keloid scars.

Line scars
After a cut injury there is usually a raised line left on the skin. That will normally lighten, flatten and almost but not completely disappear over two years – leaving a visible mark.
Pitted or indented scars
Some scars are textured and leave indented marks varying in size on the skin. This may happen after severe acne.
There are different types of acne scars: box scars, ice-pick and rolling scars.
Keloid scars
Keloid scars form when too much collagen is produced during the healing process. These scars are usually raised lumps.
